Overview
Tokyo Institute of Technology International Education and Research (TIER) Program was first implemented in 2012 as part of the project entitled "World-Class University Alliance for Educating Techno-Scientific Leaders" under Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's (MEXT) newly established funding scheme "Re-inventing Japan Project" to promote international exchanges. Of the 183 proposals submitted to MEXT by 91 universities, only 25 were selected. Among the 25 successfully chosen proposals, two of Tokyo Tech's proposed international education programs were selected - one program to collaborate with some of the top American, European, and Asian universities, and the other with specified universities in China and Korea.

By utilizing funds from the "Re-inventing Japan Project," we have implemented the following two programs.

(1) Tokyo Tech International Research Opportunities Program - TiROP
This program is designed for undergraduate and master course students to join a professor's laboratory and conduct research projects under the supervision of renowned Tokyo Tech faculty. Participants may also participate in the "Summer School," which offers intensive classes on various topics in the fields of advanced technology at Tokyo Tech.

(2) Research Oriented Joint Educational Program
This program enables master and doctor course students to achieve high standards more effectively on their research theses by working under joint supervisory faculty teams of Tokyo Tech and its partner universities.
