Professor Yong-Taek Im, Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Emerging global, knowledge-driven economy requires a new educational environment for the creation and application of new knowledge. Through the increasing mobility of students and faculty and the rapid growth in international partnerships, higher education becomes more globalized. Three premiere universities of Tokyo Tech (Tokyo Institute of Technology) in Japan, Tsinghua University in China, and KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) in Korea formulated the TKT consortium for the CAMPUS Asia program in the field of science and engineering in the East Asia region.
This consortium contributes to the promotion of international collaboration through joint teaching and research to educate the students to be global citizens for the future economy. The Consortium can jointly encourage the challenge to solve the global issues on health, energy, sustainability, etc. to make joint progress through scientific innovation and advancement. The TKT Consortium also contributes to the improvement of the quality of higher education in the region and for the world. In addition, the program offers an opportunity to learn more about the importance of the cultural impact on the socio-economic advances for the benefit of the participating students. As a representative of KAIST, the support and effort of the contributors and partners to make this program available are very much appreciated.
