CAMPUS Asia students will join a professor’s laboratory and conduct a research project under the supervision of renowned Tokyo Tech faculty. The laboratories are located within the Ookayama (Tokyo) or Suzukakedai (Yokohama) campuses. At the beginning of the program, all students will take the compulsory ‘Summer School’, which offers classes on various topics such as Advanced Technology in Emerging Fields, Survival Japanese, and Modern Japan for credit for non-degree seeking students.
Participants arrive sometime in June so that they are able to begin Summer School on July 1, which starts off with a four-week long series of courses taught in English. The details and syllabus will be updated reguarly on this website. Tokyo Tech will issue an official academic record upon completion of the program. However, please note this is a research-orientated program where participants will spend a considerable amount of time in their academic advisor’s laboratory. All participants will present their summer research results and share their exchange experiences in the Closing Ceremony at the end of August.
In addition, factory tours, sports and/or cultural activities will be organized in July and August, as well as a two-day student workshop in August.
Tokyo Tech also offers a program starting in Autumn that allows students to stay at Tokyo Tech for one semester. They can arrive from the beginning of September through October 1. While here, all participants will undertake a pre-approved research project in a laboratory under the supervision of a Tokyo Tech faculty member. Those who are planning on being at Tokyo Tech for the entire Autumn Semester are urged to register for courses as well.
This new program that combines Summer Program and Joint Educational Program will be available from 2013 for students who wish to stay throughout the summer until as late as February the following year. This will give students an opportunity to participate in Summer School, undertake long-term research project in a laboratory under supervision of a Tokyo Tech professor (Academic Advisor), and possibly take regular courses in the Autumn Semester that might be credit-transferable.
