Professor Masahiko Hara, Department of Electronic Chemistry, Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering
Our TKT CAMPUS Asia consortium aims to promote a borderless educational and research environment across Asia, firstly among the 3 member universities, where the consortium will help generate mutual understanding among students and faculties of the 3 countries through various forms of exchange programs. Ultimately the consortium will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of universities and nurturing the next generation of outstanding global talent in Asia.
Can we imagine what the 21st century will be like? Will the world energy reserves be used up within a half century? The earth is expected to have experienced a dramatic increase in temperature and serious changes in climate. Nobody knows how far science and technology will have progressed by the end of the 21st century to help to overcome these problems. Looking back to the 20th century, we experienced a notable increase in knowledge, but still have not yet realized how we can share our achievements to make an affluent society. Our CAMPUS Asia framework will serve as a catalyst for the sharing of knowledge and experiences among researchers in the region, enabling us to strengthen and expand a fruitful Asian educational network of the next generation in the years to come.
The 21st century belongs to Asia. In cooperation with other Asian universities and research institutes, we will establish an Asian sustainable and connected community with a view to strengthening educational cooperation across Asia, as well as tackling issues common to Asian and worldwide countries.
