This four weeks’ long series of courses taught in English will start in the beginning of July 2014. In the 2013 Summer Program, a typical day would start with Survival Japanese language classes in the morning and "Advanced Technology in Emerging Fields" and "Modern Japan" in the afternoon with occasional "SECP" and field trips. Lastly, the research presenation and the closing ceremony will be held in late August 23, 2014.

3. Program Expensesa) Airfare
Airfare fees may be borne by the home university (Please make an inquiry to home university’s coordinator).
b) Tuition and FeesUniversity tuition and related fees for this program will be waived. c) Accommodation and Stipend
In principle, Tokyo Tech will bear the costs for accommodation and program stipends (80,000yen/month) to support students for living, commuting and miscellaneous expenses. However, due to limited amount of scholarship received from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), it is possible that only highly qualified students will receive the above-mentioned financial support.
4. Eligibility Requirements
a) Affiliation
Students who are enrolled at Tsinghua University and KAIST are eligible to apply.
b) Student Status
Undergraduate students entering their final year in the Fall of 2014 or master course students in the top quartile of their academic class.
c) Majors of Study
Engineering or Science
Number of Participants
5 students from each university will be admitted (under normal circumstances).
5. Certificate, Visa & Insurance
a) Certificate
For students who complete the entire program and submit a final report on their research, a certificate of participation will be issued by Tokyo Tech. An academic record containing course grades will be available to participants in the Summer School.

b) Student Visa
All students are required to apply for a Japanese student visa immediately after receiving acceptance notification from this program.
c) Insurance
It is mandatory to enroll in the student accident and liability insurance policy upon arrival and be covered separately by medical and or travel insurance before arrival.
